Shannon Airport has hosted an event to recognise its partnership with United Airlines. The airline marked its centenary year after first flying in 1926. Passengers on the Shannon to Newark service received refreshments and music at the departure gate.
United Airlines began services to Shannon Airport in 1998 and added seasonal flights to Chicago O’Hare. More than 2.5m passengers used the routes via Newark and Chicago. The connections supported tourism and business travel between Ireland and the United States.
Niall Kearns shared “The occasion was an opportunity to acknowledge a partnership that has delivered lasting benefits for the region. United’s services have played a crucial role in maintaining strong transatlantic links and supporting economic activity across the west of Ireland.”
