Taipei’s Starlux Airlines has launched its first European route to Prague and will soon deploy art-liveried a350-1000 aircraft on the service
Starlux Airlines has launched its 3x weekly service between Taipei Taoyuan and Prague Václav Havel, marking the Taiwanese carrier’s entry into Europe. Flights between the two cities will initially be operated by its A350-900 fleet, though the airline plans to deploy its A350-1000 on a one-off service on 11 August before deploying the larger aircraft full-time from 1 September. A fourth weekly frequency will be added from October, making Starlux the only airline offering First Class service between Taipei and Prague.
The Taipei-Prague service currently operates three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. From 1 October, a Monday departure will be added, increasing frequency to four weekly flights. Starlux is using the Airbus A350-900 for the initial weeks, seating 306 passengers across four cabins, including four First Class suites and 26 Business Class seats. From 1 September, the larger Airbus A350-1000 will operate the route, increasing capacity to 350 seats and introducing the airline’s new signature livery. Starlux said it will operate its Airsorayama aircraft on the Prague route, featuring a liquid-metal livery created in collaboration with Japanese artist Hajime Sorayama.
Prague joins Tokyo and Phoenix as one of only three cities to regularly receive this aircraft. Themed boarding passes, amenity kits, and other features will be introduced onboard from October. Starlux has positioned the launch to highlight the growing industrial relationship between Taiwan and Czechia, particularly in semiconductors, as manufacturers expand operations in Central Europe near Dresden’s chip cluster. The airline said it anticipates steady corporate demand in addition to leisure travel, placing Prague as a gateway to its Asian network for European travellers connecting through Taipei to destinations such as Tokyo, Singapore, and Ho Chi Minh City. Tickets for Starlux’s second European destination are expected to be available soon, with Barcelona identified as a likely next destination.
