Transport Canada has officially awarded type certification to the Gulfstream G700 and G800 business jets.
The process amended type certificate A-226 to include both models. Approval followed certification of G500 and G600 one week earlier after a certification process that began in 2024 and concluded on 23 February 2026. The decision also addressed prior delays in validation.
The approval follows the certification of Gulfstream’s G500 and G600 models earlier in the same month.
The decision was announced shortly after U.S. President Donald Trump threatened to “decertify” Canadian-made Bombardier aircraft and impose 50% tariffs if the Gulfstream jets were not cleared.
Canadian regulators had previously delayed approval due to concerns over fuel system icing at high altitudes. While the FAA granted the jets temporary approval on the condition of a fix by year-end, Transport Canada insisted on its own rigorous safety verification.
The certification allows these flagship ultra-long-range models to be registered and imported into Canada, opening a major market for Gulfstream Aerospace.
The G700 and G800 are now fully validated by major global regulators, including the U.S. FAA and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).
