Virgin Atlantic has connected Heathrow directly with Phuket from 18 October, creating a seamless travel experience for customers departing from Shannon and Cork Airports. The new route opens up Thailand’s largest island to Irish travellers, with regional airport connectivity through British Airways and partner carriers facilitating onward connections via London Heathrow. Phuket offers visitors pristine beaches, diverse food offerings and sunset views, with the destination now within easier reach through the new direct service.

Shannon and Cork Airports have welcomed the development, which provides their passengers with access to Virgin Atlantic’s long-haul network without the requirement to travel to Dublin for international departures. The regional airports have invested significantly in passenger facilities and route development in recent years, positioning themselves as attractive alternatives for travellers in the south and west of Ireland.
