Leitrim Council turns down permission for glamping site in Aghacashel

Leitrim County Council has refused permission for a glamping site in Aghacashel. Although the application proposed five serviced pods, and included pathways and a car park, planners reject the plan on multiple grounds. The site lies in open countryside outside settlement boundaries. The decision cites incompatibility with the county development plan.

When Killian Bannon submitted details for wastewater upgrades, and outlined storage and signage, the council still found issues with road safety and sightlines. Concerns arose over traffic hazards and lack of noise mitigation measures. The proposal lacked connection to existing tourism assets.

The council detailed that the development “would endanger public safety by reason of a traffic hazard.”
