The National Transport Authority has confirmed that the upgrade of Drogheda Bus Station is not anticipated to begin in 2026. Responsibility for major improvements rests with Bus Éireann.
Upgrades fall outside the NTA’s Public Transport Infrastructure Capital Grant scheme, as Drogheda lies outside the Greater Dublin Area. Bus Éireann handles ongoing maintenance and upkeep under its Direct Award Contract. For progress on improvements, contact Bus Éireann directly.
Accessibility upgrades have undergone examination in a Preliminary Business Case under the Bus Station Accessibility Programme to meet TGD-M standards, now under review. Works depend on agreement of the wider Bus Éireann scheme. The NTA intends to complete the Draft Drogheda Local Transport Plan in early 2026 with proposals for the station, subject to discussions.
