Lufthansa faces further delay on Boeing 787-9s business class due to seat certification delay

Lufthansa has confirmed ongoing restrictions on business class seats aboard its new Boeing 787-9s due to delayed FAA certification of the Allegris cabin. Only four of twenty-eight business class seats are available on the eight aircraft currently in service. The airline hopes for resolution by April 2026 following an FAA inspection in February.

Prolonged delays risk revenue impacts during the summer season. The certification process continues with no confirmed timeline for full seat availability. The issue affects the new configuration rollout.

Lufthansa shared in a written statement that it currently hopes the restriction will be lifted by April 2026.
