One-Way traffic system proposed for Willie Clancy festival in Miltown Malbay

Discussions are underway about introducing a one-way traffic system for future editions of the Willie Clancy Week in Miltown Malbay, following the highly successful 2025 event that drew tens of thousands to west Clare.

The proposal aims to manage congestion in the town during the traditional music festival, easing pressure on pubs, restaurants, and streets while maintaining the event’s vibrant atmosphere. The 2025 instalment was described as one of the most successful to date.

Local stakeholders are exploring traffic management options to accommodate growing crowds without disrupting the festival’s heritage focus on uilleann piping and Irish traditional music sessions.
