Air Transat has confirmed the suspension of flights from Montréal to Orlando on 4 May and Fort Lauderdale on 3 June with Québec to Fort Lauderdale ending 30 May. The carrier operated up to nine US routes in March 2025 including daily Florida services. Future resumption in autumn and winter remains under review.
WestJet axed ten US routes from Edmonton Vancouver Halifax Montréal Toronto Pearson and Winnipeg. Both airlines cited declining transborder demand throughout 2025 with no expected reversal in the near term. The adjustments form part of proactive capacity management.
Air Transat says it is focusing resources on stronger positioned markets for optimised deployment and that the decisions respond to waning Canadian demand for US travel with rRoute rationalisation designed to align with current market conditions.
Air Transat shared in a written statement “This adjustment is part of a proactive management of our capacity, as we focus our efforts on markets where Air Transat is best positioned and that allow us to optimise the deployment of our resources.”
