Details release of ForumAlpinum 2026 28–30 May 2026

The ForumAlpinum 2026 will take place from 28–30 May 2026 in the Aosta Valley, Italy, primarily hosted at the University of the Aosta Valley. The theme for this edition is “Alpine communities and territories in a time of glacier loss and climate change”.

The forum is part of a week of activities connected to the Italian presidency of the Alpine Convention, with the main conference day on Friday, 29 May 2026. 

The schedule of events includes:

  • Monday, 25 May – Thursday, 28 May: Pre-ForumAlpinum Summer School for Young Academics.
  • Wednesday, 27 May (Evening): Public Event.
  • Thursday, 28 May (Morning): Political round table.
  • Friday, 29 May (Full Day): ForumAlpinum 2026 Scientific Conference. This day will feature four parallel sessions covering topics such as governance, impacts of cryosphere decline, consequences for territorial and urban systems, and socio-economic challenges.
  • Friday, 29 May (Evening): Conference Dinner.
  • Saturday, 30 May: Guided technical excursion in the Aosta Valley including discussions. 
  • The specific list of speakers is not yet available as the Call for Contributions is open until 27 February 2026. The call is open to academics, sectoral operators, and public administrators. Priority will be given to young academics and early-career researchers. Selected contributors and poster presenters will be notified by 23 March 2026.

Registration is expected to open in spring 2026, with no fee for participation. More information is available on the official ForumAlpinum website
