Spain’s peak season flattens as travellers explore lesser-visited regions

Spain is witnessing a flattening of its peak tourism season as British travellers increasingly venture into the country’s lesser-visited areas, according to Manuel Butler, the director of the Spanish Tourist Office in London, a descendant of the famous Butlers of Ormond.

He emphasised the need to encourage longer stays among visitors to enhance social sustainability. This shift is seen as a positive development for distributing tourism benefits more evenly across regions, reducing overcrowding in popular spots like the Costa del Sol and Barcelona.
