- DHS suspended Global Entry during the partial government shutdown.
- TSA PreCheck stayed operational after initial suspension plan reversal.
- Shutdown began February 14 with funding lapse effects.
- Global Entry halted from February 22 at six o’clock Eastern.
- TSA evaluated operations case by case amid staffing issues.
Conflicting statements from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) have raised concerns about the USA Global Entry programme.
The partial US government shutdown led the Department of Homeland Security to suspend Global Entry processing while TSA PreCheck remained operational.
DHS initially planned to pause both programmes but reversed the PreCheck decision after intervention. Global Entry halted at six o’clock Eastern on February 22 2026 to conserve resources during the funding lapse that began February 14.
TSA PreCheck continued with no changes though staffing constraints prompted case-by-case evaluations. Courtesy escorts including for Members of Congress ceased to prioritise core screening. Industry groups expressed concern over disruptions and short notice.
