The Shannon Airport Group won the Green Public Sector Organisation of the Year and Green Large Organisation of the Year categories at the ceremony in Dublin.
The group reduced carbon emissions and achieved Level 3 Airport Carbon Accreditation in the previous month.
Staff launched a Solar PV farm that supplied up to 20pc of the airport’s annual electricity needs. The group enhanced biodiversity and integrated circular economy principles across operations. The awards recognised the group ahead of competitors such as Gas Networks Ireland, Calor, Roadstone, DAA, Eirgrid and Waterways Ireland.
Sinead Murphy shared “We’re really delighted, and honoured, to have won both Green Awards last night. 2025 was an important year for us as we made significant strides across all aspects of our sustainability strategy. We continued to reduce carbon emissions which saw the airport achieve Level 3 Airport Carbon Accreditation last month. We launched our Solar PV farm, which will supply up to 20pc of the airport’s annual electricity needs, and we continued to enhance biodiversity and integrate circular economy principles.”
