Vilnius is hosting the 6th World Apostolic Congress on Mercy from 7 to 12 June 2026 with around 5,000 participants. The congress carries the theme Building the City of Mercy and organises under the Vatican’s Dicastery for Evangelisation.

Vilnius gains selection as the birthplace of the Divine Mercy devotion linked to St Faustina Kowalska in 1934. The original Divine Mercy image by Eugeniusz Kazimirowski displays at the Shrine of Divine Mercy in Vilnius Old Town. Pilgrims explore the Way of Mercy route connecting 14 sacred sites including St Faustina’s house and the Gate of Dawn chapel.

Archbishop Gintaras Grušas shared “While in Vilnius, WACOM participants can explore the Way of Mercy, a pilgrimage route linking 14 sacred sites, St. Faustina’s house, and the Gate of Dawn chapel, home to a 17th-century icon of the Mother of Mercy” naming Archbishop Gintaras Grušas.

Inesa Čaikauskienė shared “Every afternoon, participants will step away from the conference hall and into the Old Town’s churches for the Hour of Mercy. This way the city itself becomes part of the congress”.
