Long derelict motel to re-open in West Cork as Little Island resort

A 1960s motel overlooking Owenahincha Beach is to reopen as The Little Island Resort after over 40 years empty. Sisters Aislinn and Nicole O’Shea plan to rebuild the property while preserving original character.

The adult-only, pet-friendly boutique retreat offers sea views and focuses on relaxation, a Swim Club Deli providing speciality coffee, seasonal menus, pizzas and cocktails, with sustainability guiding renovation, operations, landscaping and waste management.

Aislinn O’Shea shared “When we first saw the property, we fell in love immediately and made an offer the next day. It had been empty for decades, but we could see exactly what it could become.”

Nicole O’Sha shared “Our goal is to make the resort as self-sustaining as possible. We think carefully about every decision, how we build, how we operate, and how we host.”
