A new four-part TG4 documentary series examines the River Suir in depth will premiere Wednesday, April 1st, 2026, at 9:30 pm. The Irish-language production, created by HG Productions, explores the history, communities, and landscape of Ireland’s third-longest river.

The series is presented by Dr Colm Mac Gearailt, a West Kerry historian and arts practitioner. Mac Gearailt retraces the river’s 183km journey from its source to the sea using a canoe.

The journey is guided by the reflections found in Annraoi Ó Liatháin’s book, Cois Siúire and features stories from various Tipperary communities and explores the “triumph and tragedy” of the river’s past.

The 50-minute Irish-language programme tells the story of one of Ireland’s greatest waterways and the communities along its course.
