Department invites applications for new DAA board by April 6

The Department of Transport is to advertise a recruitment campaign for current vacancies onf the Dublin airprot authority board through the PublicJobs service following recent board departures and upcoming term expiries including the chairperson position in June 2026. 

Applications for ministerial appointments to the daa plc board undergo a formal public process in line with the State Airports Act 2004 and governance requirements for state bodies with candidates required to submit expressions of interest by the specified deadline.

The current position on criteria for an appointment on the board of Dublin Airport Authority requires candidates to comply with the provisions of the State Airports Act 2004 as amended and the Air Navigation and Transport (Amendment) Act 1998.

The board consists of no more than thirteen directors with the Minister for Transport appointing the chairperson and up to seven other directors with the consent of the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform for terms not exceeding five years. Four directors known as worker directors or elected directors are appointed by the Minister following a nomination and election process under the Worker Participation (State Enterprises) Acts 1977 to 2001 for terms of four years. The chief executive serves as an ex officio member of the board. 

Candidates must demonstrate suitability through relevant skills and experience in areas such as aviation finance economics legal business retail or industrial relations while adhering to standards on conflicts of interest ethical conduct and corporate governance as set out in the Code of Practice for the Governance of State Bodies.

Appointments follow formal processes including public expressions of interest where applicable and background checks to ensure compliance with legislative requirements on independence and fitness for oversight of airport operations development and commercial activities.
