The Shamrock Lodge Hotel in Athlone received approval to embark on an ambitious expansion of its premises on the outskirts of Athlone. Edenlandia Limited the owners tabled plans in September for a substantial demolition and construction project that introduces a new entrance enlarged bar and function room. The plans add five additional en suite bedrooms and toilets.

The owners sought approval to level an existing two storey building that includes toilets bar storage and offices at ground level with derelict accommodation overhead. Further demolition removes an existing single storey toilet block to the side of the hotel which adjoins its function room together with an existing escape stairwell. Westmeath County Council planning department granted approval subject to 10 conditions.

The award winning hotel undertakes the project to expand facilities at the long established property.
