Cork strengthens position as international conference destination

Cork has reinforced its ambitions to become a leading international conference hub following the success of the Keep Cork Meeting Expo. 

The event highlighted the city’s growing reputation for hosting major business events, which have contributed approximately €150m to the local economy since 2017. 

The Keep Cork Meeting expo showcased over 30 exhibitors, including hotels and event specialists, to boost business tourism. Business tourism is booming, with delegates spending three times more than leisure tourists, according to 96FM.

The Cork Convention Bureau acts as a key support, with the city offering world-class infrastructure for international events. The focus is on attracting conferences in bio-pharma, ICT, and medical sciences, through Little Island Business Association

The event showcased the city’s growing infrastructure and appeal for business tourism, highlighting its capacity to host major gatherings while blending professional opportunities with local heritage and hospitality. This momentum supports broader efforts to diversify Ireland’s tourism offerings beyond leisure travel.
