Royal Caribbean has introduced a colour coded system on Legend of the Seas to help passengers locate cabins, incorporating colours and numbers for clear navigation. A gradient uses green for forward sections, teal for midship areas and dark blue for aft locations so a passenger can calculate the location by the hue of the colour on their smartphone.
Eden van Waveren explained the layout on a tour of the ship after the handover ceremony in Turku. She explained how deck numbers combine with side indicators where 1 2 3 mark forward port and 5 6 7 mark forward starboard. Interior cabins use number 4 designations in central positions.
The system assists guests who arrive with specific stateroom numbers such as 14572. Crew members receive training on the wayfinding features. The design forms part of broader innovations on the new vessel.
Eden van Waveren shared “We have a colour gradient which shows where you are on the ship. Blue is aft.”
