In August 2026, Wizz Air carried 8,699,468 million passengers, marking a 25.9pc increase compared to the same month in the previous year and 115.5pc ahead of pre-pandemic. Rolling annual was 77,811,090, up 17.6pc on the twelve months to July 2025.
The airline has increased capacity by 24.8pc to 9.10m seats, while the load factor has risen by 0.8 percentage points to 95.6pc. The rolling 12-month passenger figure reached 77.81m, representing a 17.6pc increase against the previous 12-month period, with capacity having grown by 17.7pc to 85.49m seats.
The August growth rate represents a moderation from July 2026 when seat growth reached 30.4pc, though the figure remains consistent with the airline’s guidance for seat growth in the high twenties percentage range for the September quarter. The 95.6pc load factor indicates near-capacity utilisation across the carrier’s network, with the airline having maintained operational efficiency despite the substantial year-on-year increase in passenger volume. The August performance reflects sustained demand across Wizz Air’s European route network, particularly on Mediterranean tourist routes where capacity has been concentrated during the peak summer season.
The airline has continued its network expansion during the period, having announced a third Spanish base at Santiago de Compostela on July 30, 2026, following the Madrid and Valencia base announcements on July 10. The Santiago de Compostela base will commence operations on February 1, 2027, with one based aircraft serving five domestic and two international destinations. Wizz Air has also launched a redesigned My Journey mobile application platform under the Customer First Compass initiative, delivering real-time flight information and personalised travel guidance to passengers.

Wizz Air Holdings shared: “The published CO2 figures do not include any benefit from Wizz Air’s SAF uplift.”
