Sligo Park Hotel invests in Love Sligo gift card employee rewards

The Sligo Park Hotel has launched an innovative employee reward initiative by investing in the local Love Sligo Gift Card. Rather than relying on generic national reward programs, the hotel integrates these gift cards into its guest feedback cycle to celebrate exceptional service while keeping financial spend entirely within the local community.

After a guest’s stay, the Sligo Park Hotel reviews internal customer satisfaction questionnaires. Staff members explicitly praised by guests for exceptional hospitality are rewarded directly using the Love Sligo Gift Card. The programme aligns with Ireland’s Small Benefit Exemption, which allows corporate organizations to gift up to €1,000 tax-free per employee annually. [1]

The initiative keeps the hospitality rewards budget from leaving the county, effectively creating a self-sustaining circular economic loop. Recipients can redeem their balances across more than 260 local businesses, including independent shops, cafes, supermarkets, and restaurants. Managed by the Sligo BID and powered by Miconex, the platform charges 0% commission to local participating physical stores.

The move by Sligo Park Hotel reflects a mounting corporate trend in the region. Over 200 regional firms(including Jennings O’Donovan and the Riverside Hotel) have collectively driven total card programme sales above €2.3 million, locking essential consumer spending into the high street bricks-and-mortar ecosystem.
