Spanish domestic tourism up by 4.4pc

  • Residents completed 33.2 million trips with a 4.4pc decrease.
  • Total spending reached 11.454 billion euros with 2.5pc growth.
  • Andalucía received 16.6pc of total trips.
  • Foreign trips increased by 3.7pc while domestic fell by 5.7pc.
  • Average daily expenditure stood at 95 euros.

The Encuesta de Turismo de Residentes has revealed that residents in Spain made 33.2 million trips in the first quarter of 2026. Total expenditure rose by 2.5pc to 11.454 billion euros. 

Domestic trips decreased by 5.7pc while trips abroad increased by 3.7pc. Leisure and holiday trips fell by 6.0pc and visits to family and friends declined by 7.9pc. Business trips rose by 5.2pc.

Andalucía accounted for 16.6pc of trips followed by Cataluña at 11.2pc and Castilla y León at 9.2pc. Average daily spend reached 95 euros overall.
