Visit Waterford is promoting free family activities this summer and families have responded with increased interest in local experiences. A promotional campaign for the county is highlighting its offering of beaches, playgrounds, story trails and outdoor options that have attracted visitors without high costs. Clare Barrett has led efforts to highlight accessible adventures.

The “Find Your Wild” campaign is showcasing Waterford’s coastline from Ardmore to Dunmore East along the Copper Coast UNESCO Global Geopark. Families have used the Digital Story Trail in Waterford City with QR coded stops that have revealed Viking and medieval history. Orienteering walks developed with Waterford Sports Partnership have guided groups through parks and green spaces.

Many cultural sites have provided free entry for children including Waterford Treasures Museums, Mount Congreve Gardens and Lismore Heritage Centre. Playgrounds in locations such as People’s Park, Tramore and Bunmahon have offered varied settings. The Churchyard Sessions at The Reg have delivered 23 nights of free live music until September.

Clare Barrett shared “The focus is no longer just on where to go but how to experience more together without a hefty price tag. What families are really seeking now is time together. Waterford gives them the space freedom and inspiration to do that.”
