  • DAA completed installation of pantograph chargers at Dublin Airport.
  • Aircoach invested €11m in a new electric shuttle fleet.
  • The project forms part of a €17m investment to support reliable services.
  • Electric shuttles serve around 2.5 million passengers each year at the airport.
  • The shift reduces annual carbon emissions by more than 1,470 tonnes.

DAA has installed the first pantograph electric bus chargers at Dublin Airport as part of a €17m investment programme. Aircoach has introduced a new fleet of electric shuttles with an €11m commitment. The infrastructure supports ultrafast charging for high-frequency routes between car parks and terminals.

The pantograph system uses retractable arms for rapid charging at route endpoints and reduces the need for depot returns during the day. A separate seven-bay depot facility provides overnight and backup capacity. The transition from diesel to electric shuttles cuts carbon emissions by more than 1,470 tonnes each year.

DAA reported that 82pc of its light commercial fleet now consists of low-emission vehicles. The airport company added hydrotreated vegetable oil for its heavy fleet. Last year solar power met 12pc of electricity needs, with plans to reach 30pc by 2030 through on-site farms.
