Hotel operators, investors and owners in Catalonia are driving the transformation of thirty two establishments with five thousand eight hundred and eighty six rooms, of which eighteen are four and five star hotels with four thousand two hundred and four rooms under renovation.
This represents fifteen per cent of hotel reforms across Spain and twenty per cent of the rooms involved. There are also twenty new hotel projects under construction adding nearly two thousand three hundred rooms, around half of them four and five star.
Barcelona leads with fourteen new developments and thirteen transformations, including the full refurbishment of Hotel Arts last year with an investment of over two hundred and twenty million euros. The strategy aims to adapt to new traveller expectations and attract higher value demand.
