Five cruise ships have been sent to shipyards this summer for break up. Shipbreakers received the former Nippon Maru in Alang India during June 2026. The 1990-built vessel with 22,000 tons previously sailed for Mitsui Ocean Cruises. It became the first cruise ship scrapped in nearly a year.
The Astoria built in 1948 went to Galloo Gent in Belgium in July 2025 after service with Cruise & Maritime Voyages. Former Celestyal Crystal reached Alang in May 2025. Ocean Atlantic arrived at Aliaga Turkey in May 2025.
The former Celestyal Olympia was beached in Alang in February 2025.
