LEGEND Lore: The Grove: Al Fresco Mediterranean Buffet for Suite Guests on Legend of the Seas, aboard the world’s largest cruise ship

0

On Royal Caribbean’s Legend of the Seas, The Grove occupies an elevated position within the Suite Neighbourhood on the upper decks of the forward superstructure, integrated into the Grove Suite Sun Deck. This multi-level outdoor space sits adjacent to the private pool, whirlpool, and loungers reserved for Star Class and Sky Class suite guests. Access requires suite keycard entry. The venue operates as a complimentary, self-service buffet with covered seating areas that allow guests to remain outdoors near the water features. Hours align with sun deck activity, typically running from late morning through evening with rotating selections throughout the day.

The Grove functions as a casual, light alternative to the more structured Coastal Kitchen, with a focus on Mediterranean-inspired mezes and small plates prepared for al fresco consumption.

Offerings and Sample Items

The buffet rotates daily but emphasises fresh, shareable Mediterranean elements. Breakfast selections include pastries, fruit displays, yogurt parfaits, and hot items such as eggs or sausages.

Midday and afternoon options feature salads including Greek salad with olives, feta, and tomatoes; composed plates with grilled vegetables; hummus with za’atar flatbread; and antipasti selections. Hot dishes have included Mediterranean chicken pita wraps, gyros, mushroom arancini with romesco sauce, grilled fish, pastas, and items such as Hawaiian beef sliders or smoked hot dogs for variety. Sides incorporate French fries, bread displays, and vegetable options.

Evening offerings expand on mezes with additional proteins and small plates such as chicken koftas and further antipasti. Desserts and sweets include ice cream service alongside cookies, fruit, and other small confections. Guests assemble plates from the displays and return to tables or loungers nearby. Soft drinks, beer, and wine come included during set hours, with other beverages available from the adjacent suite bar.

Portions remain light and suited to snacking or light meals, supporting guests who stay within the sun deck area for extended periods.

The Grove forms part of the Suite Neighbourhood on Icon-class vessels. It first appeared on Icon of the Seas with the same al fresco buffet format on the suite sun deck. Star of the Seas carries an identical setup in its corresponding location. Legend of the Seas replicates this as the third ship in the class. The concept does not exist on earlier Royal Caribbean classes, which offer different suite lounge and sun deck arrangements without this dedicated outdoor Mediterranean buffet.
