The FlowRider occupies a prominent position within Thrill Island on the upper decks of Legend of the Seas, situated near the waterpark slides and climbing structures. This forward elevated placement allows the simulator to face outward, with the wave mechanism integrated into the ship’s superstructure for structural support and ocean exposure. Access occurs via dedicated walkways and viewing platforms from adjacent attractions.

The attraction generates a continuous sheet wave of water flowing over a inclined surface, enabling riders to attempt stand-up surfing on short boards or bodyboarding while lying down. Instructors provide guidance on technique, with sessions accommodating both first-time participants learning balance and more experienced riders executing turns and manoeuvres. Wipeouts send riders sliding back into a padded catch area at the base. Safety rules limit session numbers and require use of provided equipment, including rash vests and helmets for certain riders. The setup includes spectator areas for watching attempts.

This FlowRider configuration, with the same continuous wave technology and dual riding styles, operates on Icon of the Seas and Star of the Seas in equivalent Thrill Island locations, as well as across multiple other Royal Caribbean vessels in the fleet.

Riders sign up for timed slots at the on-site station, with staff adjusting wave intensity based on group skill levels. Sessions typically last several minutes, allowing repeated attempts within the allocated period. The FlowRider runs during set hours aligned with sea days, subject to weather and maintenance.

The FlowRider on Legend of the Seas delivers a stationary wave experience engineered for repeated rides, supporting both stand-up and bodyboard formats on its dedicated deck. The installation matches the specifications and placement found on prior Icon-class ships.
