Thrill Island stretches across the uppermost decks toward the aft and midship sections of Legend of the Seas, occupying elevated open spaces that overlook lower pool areas and the sea beyond. This positioning places it above much of the ship’s superstructure, with direct stair and lift access from neighbourhoods such as Chill Island and the Royal Promenade. The layout clusters attractions together, allowing movement between slides, climbing structures, and courts without descending multiple levels.

The neighbourhood centres on Category 6, the largest waterpark at sea, which contains six distinct slides. These include Storm Chasers for side-by-side mat racing, Hurricane Hunter as a family raft ride with capacity for three or four riders, Pressure Drop as an open free-fall slide, and Frightening Bolt as a drop slide. Additional features comprise Crown’s Edge, a harnessed skywalk and obstacle course that extends outward with a trap-door element suspending participants 154 feet above the ocean, Adrenaline Peak as a rock-climbing wall, dual FlowRider surf simulators, and a sports court for basketball and similar activities.

Basecamp functions as the neighbourhood’s dedicated complimentary dining outlet, situated within the Thrill Island zone for direct access during activity sessions. It operates as a quick-service counter offering items such as pretzel bites, tater tots, hot dogs, chicken fingers, and smash burgers. Guests collect orders and consume them at nearby tables or while moving between attractions. Initially introduced with some a la carte pricing, the venue shifted to fully included status across Icon-class ships.

This outlet appears on Icon of the Seas and Star of the Seas with the same menu and location format adjacent to the waterpark structures.

Premium Dining Outlets

Thrill Island itself focuses primarily on physical activities rather than seated dining, but nearby premium options and walk-up concepts support the high-energy environment. Playmakers Sports Bar & Arcade sits in proximity, combining bar service with games and viewing screens. Additional premium venues on the ship, such as those in adjacent neighbourhoods, provide alternatives after activity sessions, though the core Thrill Island experience prioritises movement over formal meals.

At Basecamp, signature items include loaded tater tots that guests can customise with toppings from nearby stations, alongside the smash burger prepared with seasoned patties and standard accompaniments. A sample selection might involve pretzel bites with cheese dip followed by chicken fingers or a hot dog, designed for rapid consumption between rides. The menu supports repeated visits without formal courses, aligning with the neighbourhood’s activity focus.
