Portmarnock Resort & Jameson Golf Links has been marking its 30th anniversary with a significant new investment programme designed to further enhance the guest experience, including the transformation of three bedrooms within the original Jameson family home into premium deluxe guest accommodation. The resort, which occupies the former home of the Jameson whiskey family who built the original house and adjoining golf course in the 1850s, has retained its heritage features including the popular Jameson Bar paying tribute to its original owners. The new Jameson deluxe rooms combine modern luxury with carefully retained period features including fireplaces and furniture, authentically designed to reflect the historic character of the rooms.
Planning permission has been granted for a new outdoor heated pool measuring 10m x 5m, with work due to begin shortly and the facility to be available exclusively to hotel guests throughout the year alongside new sauna and steam rooms. Continued investment in the golf course has included specialist machinery and a full refurbishment of the on-site golf shop offering a broader range of golf-related items. The 18-hole, par-72 course, originally designed by Bernhard Langer and Stan Eby, was redesigned in 2023 and rebranded from Portmarnock Links to Jameson Golf Links, enjoying spectacular views of the Irish coastline.
Meeting and event spaces across the hotel have been updated and refreshed with new AV equipment installed throughout, following the full refurbishment of the hotel’s main dining space, The Seaview, in 2025. General Manager William Kirby has described the resort’s setting on the Velvet Strand beach, just a short journey from Dublin, as making it an ideal place to get away from it all, noting that the Jameson family recognised this almost 180 years ago when choosing to base themselves there while continuing to manage the distillery in Dublin. The investment programme reflects the resort’s commitment to delivering enhanced guest experiences, particularly for returning visitors, with the Jameson deluxe rooms now available for stays.
