- The eHandshake platform cuts approximately 10,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually
- The system eliminates 600,000 sheets of paper each year
- Initial deployment covers half of easyJet’s network
- Expansion targets 90pc of destinations over the next three years
- The initiative supports easyJet’s 35pc carbon intensity reduction target by 2035
EasyJet has partnered with i6 Group to deploy the eHandshake digital refuelling platform across its network, replacing manual, paper-based workflows with real-time digital systems. The technology allows pilots to order, track and confirm fuel data electronically, cutting roughly 10,000 tonnes of CO₂ per year and eliminating 600,000 sheets of paper annually. The platform connects pilots, fuel suppliers and operational teams instantly through the aircrew’s existing ETechlog pilot platform.
The eHandshake platform provides accurate real-time data to help prevent unnecessary fuel uplift, which occurs when planes carry excess weight that increases fuel burn during flight. The system creates a clear digital record of fuel planning, ordering, delivery and acceptance. The initial deployment covers about half of easyJet’s network, with expansion targeting 90pc of destinations over the next three years.
This initiative forms a critical step in easyJet’s larger roadmap to cut its carbon emissions intensity by 35pc by 2035. The technology eliminates the need for manual data entry and paper notes, replacing traditional paper processes with direct electronic communication between pilots, operational teams and fuel suppliers. The rollout will initially cover half of easyJet’s network with goals to reach 90pc of destinations within three years.
Johan Lundgren shared “The eHandshake platform represents a significant step forward in our operational efficiency and sustainability journey. Digital refuelling technology will help us reduce carbon emissions while improving accuracy and eliminating wasteful paper processes.”
