EasyJet has confirmed it will completely stop all operations at Leeds Bradford Airport starting 5 January 2027, ending the airline’s 16-year presence at the West Yorkshire aviation hub. The decision follows a comprehensive network review, with the airline focusing on developing and maintaining routes that prove most popular with customers in other regions. The move comes shortly after easyJet agreed to a multi-billion pound takeover by a US private equity firm, with the Belfast route operating normally until the withdrawal date.

The exit will cancel six primary destinations previously served by the carrier, with Barcelona and Paris operating normally until 5 January 2027, Malaga and Majorca ending earlier in November as summer-only routes, and Geneva already paused since June. Passengers with bookings beyond 5 January 2027 will be offered either a full refund or a free transfer to an alternative easyJet flight departing from Manchester or Liverpool. An airline spokesperson explained the carrier is pulling out to focus on its most popular routes.

Other carriers such as Jet2 and Ryanair will continue serving several of the Spanish destinations from the Yorkshire airport, with Ryanair launching special rescue fares starting at £29.99 for travellers looking to replace their cancelled winter flights. The airport will not be left without low-cost options as major budget carriers remain heavily active at Leeds Bradford. The withdrawal represents a reduction in capacity at the regional airport, though alternative carriers have moved to fill the gap.
