Spanish chain Riu Hotels & Resorts has marked a milestone in its international growth by entering the Thai market with the September 2026 opening of the Hotel Riu Palace Phuket. Located on Mai Khao Beach in northwest Phuket, this five-star, 504-room resort introduces the brand’s signature 24-hour all-inclusive concept to the region. The move extends the group’s footprint beyond its traditional strongholds and positions it to capture demand in one of Asia’s leading leisure destinations.
The property features 504 modern rooms spread across low-rise buildings, including 49 exclusive Elite Club by RIU rooms featuring private swim-up pools and upgraded amenities. Six diverse restaurants feature local Thai fare, Italian options and a steakhouse, alongside seven themed bars. Amenities include six swimming pools, the Renova Spa, a fitness centre and a dedicated children’s area. The resort sits 16 kilometres from Phuket International Airport, right next to Sirinat National Park.
Integrated solar panels generate clean energy across two buildings in the industrial zone, while roof-based rainwater harvesting systems collect and recycle water for landscape irrigation. The resort has been designed to blend seamlessly into its surroundings, serving as a space for connection with the destination and its traditions. RIU now has 101 hotels in 22 countries, with this opening reinforcing its commitment to the Asian continent and consolidating its expansion into premier international destinations.
