Six cruise ships are changing hands in September as previously announced transactions are completed and new moves are confirmed. The Regatta completed its farewell voyage for Oceania Cruises in late August ahead of being delivered to MyCruises. The 1998-built ship kicked off a series of world cruises for the Australia-based company in September as part of a two-year charter contract.
The Deutschland wrapped up its operations for Phoenix Reisen in early September, concluding a final summer season for the Germany-based cruise line. Originally built for Peter Deilmann Reederei in the late 1990s, the 22,400-ton vessel will continue to sail for Semester at Sea as the World Odyssey. The Norwegian Sky was withdrawn from the Norwegian Cruise Line fleet in early September. Set to be delivered to India-based Cordelia Cruises soon, the 1999-built vessel had a repositioning voyage to Dubai cancelled due to security concerns in the Middle East.
The Costa Fortuna is being withdrawn from service ahead of debuting for a different cruise line. Sold by Costa Cruises in 2025, the vessel completed its farewell season in September and will soon be delivered to Margaritaville at Sea. Corazul Cruceros’ CCO Camille Appledoorn confirmed that the company inked a deal to charter the Piano Land. The ship is reportedly being transformed into the Buenavista for its maiden season in Brazil. One of the oldest cruise ships currently afloat, the 1961-built Funchal will be auctioned in Portugal this month. The sale will take place through a sealed bid process held by the insolvency administrators of Teamson Lda, which acquired the 402-passenger vessel in 2021.
