Eurowings is significantly expanding its base at Palma de Mallorca airport as part of a strategic partnership with the Government of the Balearic Islands. The airline will base six aircraft in Mallorca for the upcoming 2026/27 winter season, doubling the number of aircraft deployed there two years prior. The initiative aims to transform the island into a year-round travel destination.

During peak months, Eurowings connects Mallorca to 26 airports mainly in Germany and Austria, operating roughly 400 flights per week. The airline currently employs approximately 1,000 local workers and has invested in local ground operations through its subsidiary Wings Handling. Eurowings and Balearic President Marga Prohens are evaluating the establishment of technical and aircraft maintenance infrastructure in Palma.

The strategy aims to spread economic activity more evenly across seasons and distribute tourism demand into autumn and winter months. Future plans include potential partnerships with local universities to boost workforce development. The airline has contracted Globalia for maintenance services as part of the growth plan.
