Qatar Airways Group CEO Hamad Ali Al Khater has stated that the national carrier is entering a rapid growth phase with plans to take delivery of 138 new aircraft over the next five years to support its expanding global network and cargo operations. The upcoming fleet modernisation will integrate widebody models including the Airbus A350-1000 and the upcoming Boeing 777-9. The airline will receive 50 Airbus A321LR aircraft by the end of the year, allowing Qatar Airways to tap into secondary airports.
The next-generation Qsuite is slated for release next summer, and approximately 150 aircraft will be equipped with Starlink high-speed internet to create the world’s largest connected fleet. Passenger traffic has recovered strongly, reaching 90 pc to 95 pc compared to last year. The network has grown from 60 to 160 destinations since mid-June, with daily passenger volumes at Hamad International Airport surging past 140,000.
The expansion supports Qatar Airways’ global network and cargo operations. The airline continues to develop its premium cabin products and connectivity offerings.
