An estimated 46 flights are expected to be cancelled on Saturday 19 September 2026 at Brussels South Charleroi Airport as air traffic controllers continue their overnight strike action. Air traffic controllers working for the state navigation agency Skeyes are walking out every night from 22:00 to 08:00 local time. The industrial action began on 16 September and is scheduled to continue every night until 10 October 2026.
While the strike takes place overnight daytime flights are also heavily impacted. If an outbound flight scheduled during the strike hours is cancelled its corresponding daytime return flight typically cannot operate. The dispute centres on a breakdown in talks regarding night-shift premium payments and bonus schemes. Unions are demanding that allowances match those at Liege Airport which Skeyes management claims would amount to a 160 pc increase.
Passengers flying to or from Charleroi Airport during this period are advised to check their flight status directly via the Charleroi Airport website or with airlines like Ryanair before heading to the terminal.
