Seville Airport has been on course to handle more than 10.5m passengers in 2026, reaching the volume previously projected for 2031. Year to date growth has averaged over 9pc. The figures have challenged earlier planning assumptions used for investment decisions and underline rapid expansion at the Andalusian gateway.
Seville Airport neared its long-term capacity target of 10m annual passengers well ahead of schedule, with traffic running roughly 8.6pc ahead of previous records. Passenger numbers at the airport tracked 32.9pc above pre-pandemic levels.
Following a record-breaking performance with nearly 9.7m passengers handled, momentum continued to surge across domestic and international routes. Across the wider Aena network, traffic set new highs, pushing regional facilities like Seville to accelerate expansion plans. A major €235.2m modernisation plan was scheduled for the 2027 to 2031 investment cycle. Planned improvements featured terminal enhancements, renovated facilities and upgraded guest amenities to handle the surging volume smoothly.
