Iberia is sticking to its €6bn Flight Plan 2030 strategy to expand its long-haul fleet from 45 to 70 aircraft by 2030 with Chairman and CEO Marco Sansavini confirming that the growth ambition remains unchanged despite industry headwinds. The airline aims to reach 59 long-haul aircraft by 2030 and could expand to 70 if financial conditions allow. The company continues to prioritise fleet growth and network development.
The plan includes adding new Airbus models including A350s, A321XLRs and potentially A330NEOs from parent group IAG’s orders alongside short and medium-haul A320 and A321neo renewals. Total capital investment of €6bn is planned with 70pc dedicated directly to fleet expansion largely funded through internal cash flow.
New routes include expanding long-haul reach with new or planned connections to Toronto, Philadelphia, Monterrey, Recife, Fortaleza and Orlando via its Madrid-Barajas hub. Iberia is targeting an annual operating profitability between 13.5pc and 15pc.
