Ryanair has revealed a sixth based aircraft at Liverpool John Lennon Airport for Winter 2026, representing a US$600 million (€552 million) investment in the Northwest. The expansion will deliver more than 100,000 additional seats, equating to 11 pc growth. The airline confirmed six new routes to Milan Bergamo, Copenhagen, Gdansk, Porto, Tirana and Warsaw, plus extra flights on three existing routes to Krakow, Kaunas and Cork. Overall, Ryanair will operate 27 routes from Liverpool with one million seats, supporting more than 2,130 local jobs and growing annual passenger numbers to over 2.6 million.
The additional capacity aims to boost both outbound travel for local residents and inbound tourism to the region. To mark the expansion, Ryanair launched a limited-time seat sale with fares from £29.99 available only on Ryanair.com. The Winter 2026 schedule strengthens Ryanair’s position as the number one low-fares airline at Liverpool. The investment follows the airline’s broader growth strategy across England and Europe.
Ryanair’s chief marketing officer Dara Brady criticised England’s Air Passenger Duty, calling for its abolition to support regional growth. He also urged the Transport Secretary to dismiss the NATS CEO following repeated system failures. John Irving, CEO of Liverpool John Lennon Airport, noted that the additional growth would allow passengers from across the Northwest and North Wales to use the region’s airport. The expansion highlights ongoing concerns over aviation taxation and air traffic control reliability.
