Waterford Aero Club is hosting two instructor training events in October, providing opportunities for flight instructors to maintain and extend their instructional qualifications. A Flight Instructor Seminar takes place on 16 and 17 October, aimed at instructors completing the requirements for the revalidation or renewal of their Flight Instructor (FI) Certificate.
The seminar is available via Zoom, making it accessible to instructors regardless of location. As per the regulation, instructors may complete the refresher seminar at any stage in the 3-year validity of their FI Certificate. Even if an instructor revalidated recently, the seminar can be used to revalidate again if they do not need to complete an Assessment of competence, which must be completed at each alternate revalidation. This is also a requirement for the renewal of an FI Certificate. The cost is €350.
On 14 October, the Club also hosts a Technical Training Day for candidates seeking to add Instrument Instruction privileges to their FI Certificate, or those working towards an Instrument Rating Instructor (IRI) Certificate. This is an in-person event, with the venue to be confirmed. Both events are intended to support instructors in maintaining their qualifications and developing additional instructional privileges within the EASA framework.
