Ireland West Airport is hosting a major seminar today at the Slainte Café, bringing together tourism and regional development stakeholders to discuss the airport’s impact on the western economy. The event runs from 10:00 to 14:30 and features contributions from Mayo County Council, Fáilte Ireland, Tourism Ireland and RED C Research. Arthur French, Chairman of Ireland West Airport, delivers the welcome address.
Councillor John Caulfield, Cathaoirleach of Mayo County Council, and Minister Alan Dillon T.D., Minister of State at the Department of Tourism, deliver the opening addresses. Travel Extra’s Eoghan Corry serves as guest moderator and delivered the keynote address. John Rogers, Associate Director at RED C Research, will present consumer research and passenger insights into how Ireland West Airport powers economic and tourism growth in the west of Ireland.
The first panel discussion will features John Rogers, Donal Healy, Liam Conneally and Aidan McCormack. Miriam Kennedy, Head of Wild Atlantic Way at Fáilte Ireland, presentes on building a strong and sustainable tourism product for the west of Ireland. The second panel discussion features Miriam Kennedy, Garry Martin, Sally Ann O’Brien and David Minton.
Aisling McDermott, Head of Global Partnerships at Tourism Ireland, presents on working together in partnership with Ireland West Airport and regional local authorities to promote the west of Ireland overseas. A third panel discussion features Aisling McDermott, Joe Gilmore, Shane Tiernan and Maura Murphy. The seminar includes three audience questions and answers sessions.
