VIVA Cruises is holding a free one-hour webinar for travel agents and tour operators on the impact of high and low water levels on river cruise operations. The session, Navigating High and Low Water Levels, is hosted on 30 September by Michelle Daniels, director sales for England, Ireland and Australia and New Zealand, as well as a senior member of the VIVA operations team. They provide first-hand insight into how changing water levels are monitored and managed.
The webinar covers how variable water levels can affect river cruises, what this can mean for itineraries and operations, how VIVA manages these situations, and what the trade needs to know when speaking with clients. The session concludes with a live Q and A, giving attendees the opportunity to put their questions directly to the VIVA team. The webinar takes place on 30 September 2026 from 9:30 to 10:30am.
VIVA Cruises was founded in 2018 and is owned by Swiss shipping company Scylla AG. The company offers premium river cruises across Europe with a growing nine-ship fleet featured across its 2027 programme. VIVA Cruises operates a modern collection of newbuilds and ships renovated within the past five years, combining contemporary design, flexible travel experiences and award-winning service and amenities.
Following Europe’s greatest rivers, including the Danube, Douro, Elbe, Moselle, Rhine, Rhône, Seine and the Main-Danube Canal, guests can explore the heart of towns and villages, as well as some of the continent’s most thriving capitals. Alongside its core river cruise programme, VIVA Cruises introduced VIVA Boutique, a premium boutique-hotel-style river cruise concept.
The first VIVA Boutique ship, VIVA BEYOND, sails on the Seine, while a second boutique ship, VIVA UNIQUE, launches on Italy’s Po River in 2027. VIVA Boutique ships feature more than 50pc suite accommodation and guests benefit from additional extras such as an included signature shore excursion, three onboard restaurants and Michelin-star inspired options in MOMENTS. VIVA Cruises is a European Regional Affiliate member of Cruise Lines International Association Europe and a member of the International LGBTQ+ Travel Association.
Michelle Daniels shared “Water levels are understandably one of the key talking points when selling river cruise, and there can be uncertainty around what this actually mean in practice. We want to take agents behind the scenes, explain how our operations team monitors and responds to different situations, and give practical information and insight to use in customer conversations. Our aim isn’t simply to talk about water levels, but to help agents understand the operational decisions that sit behind an itinerary and how we work to successfully minimise any disruption.”
