Royal Caribbean’s Hero of the Seas is entering service earlier than scheduled. Currently being built at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland, the Icon-class vessel was initially set to debut on 11 August 2027. Royal Caribbean stated that construction is progressing ahead of schedule, allowing for the addition of two new sailings. The Hero of the Seas now hosts its first guests on 1 August 2027.
The ship kicks off with a seven-night cruise from Fort Lauderdale. The new sailing visits the Western Caribbean and Perfect Day CocoCay. The ship also offers a new three-night cruise to Perfect Day CocoCay and the Bahamas departing from Port Everglades on 8 August 2027. The new cruises are available for bookings from 7 October 2026.
As the fourth ship in Royal Caribbean’s Icon-class series, the Hero of the Seas offers weeklong cruises to the Caribbean departing from PortMiami. Replacing the Icon of the Seas in South Florida, the 5,610-passenger ship operates year-round itineraries to destinations in Mexico, the Bahamas, St. Maarten, St. Thomas and Honduras. The vessel’s entertainment lineup includes The SpongeBob Musical.
