Hurricane Simon has forced several cruise lines to alter Mexican Riviera itineraries with multiple ports facing closures along Mexico’s Pacific coast. Royal Caribbean changed the itinerary of Voyager of the Seas with planned visits to Catalina Island, Puerto Vallarta and Mazatlán cancelled due to adverse weather conditions.
Royal Caribbean initially adjusted the cruise itinerary removing calls to Catalina Island and Mazatlán. The visit to Cabo San Lucas was changed to a different day. The company later cancelled the visit to Puerto Vallarta adding a second stop to Cabo San Lucas. Voyager of the Seas sailed from Los Angeles on 8 October 2026.
Virgin Voyages Brilliant Lady dropped all three scheduled Mexican Riviera stops and shifted to a California and Baja coastal cruise calling at Santa Barbara, San Diego and Ensenada. Holland America’s Zaandam skipped its Mazatlán port visit. Princess Cruises Discovery Princess remained at sea due to rolling port closures.
