IndiGo has finalised a $328m financing deal arranged by Citi in partnership with Belgium’s Credendo to acquire eight Airbus aircraft. The deal covers six A321s and two A320s. The financing was executed through IndiGo’s subsidiary at GIFT IFSC.

The agreement is the world’s first aviation financing deal backed by credit insurance from Belgian export credit agency Credendo. It marks the first export credit agency-backed aircraft financing structured through the GIFT IFSC leasing framework in Gujarat, India. Citigroup acted as sole mandated lead arranger, ECA coordinator and lender.

The financing transaction was routed through IndiGo’s aircraft leasing arm, InterGlobe Aviation Financial Services IFSC Pvt. Ltd. The structure unlocks a competitive pathway to tap international liquidity backed by export credit agencies. It diversifies long-term funding sources as IndiGo scales up to meet domestic and long-haul international travel demand.
