Lufthansa has named its first Airbus A350-1000 aircraft “Deutschland”. The aircraft is at the Airbus factory in Toulouse and is due to fly to its home base in Munich in mid-November. It is the 700th Airbus delivered to the airline.
The larger A350-1000 will seat 300 passengers in the Allegris configuration, 33 more than the A350-900. The first scheduled service is planned for 3 December to Tokyo. The aircraft features a blue livery with a white crane graphic displaying “1926 | 2026” and “100” as the seventh aircraft celebrating Lufthansa’s 100th anniversary.
Lufthansa has ordered 15 of the type by 2030. The first 10 aircraft from this order will be stationed at the Munich long-haul hub. The A350-1000 is 73.80 metres long, seven metres longer than the A350-900, and powered by dual Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-97 engines.
