United Airlines has opened its largest airport lounge in the Americas a 54,000-square-foot club with 800 seats at Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport. The opening puts United’s main Latin America hub at the centre of an industry spending push to retain frequent flyers and credit card customers. The club opens alongside 22 new mainline gates in a $2.6bn (€2.22bn) Terminal B redevelopment.
A Texas regulatory filing estimates the Houston club’s interior fit-out cost at $58.9m (€50.3m). The lounge is roughly 60pc larger than the 33,000-square-foot club United opened in Denver in July 2025. Operating hours run from 5:30am to 9pm with access for qualifying United Club membership, qualifying credit cards or certain premium tickets.
The lounge features two buffet stations, 11 private phone rooms, high-speed Wi-Fi and power outlets. The club’s 800 seats are spread across four areas including the Texas-themed Lasso Lounge and the Moonshot Lounge with its tequila bar. The three-level 765,000-square-foot North Concourse replaces facilities dating to 1969 with 22 gates accommodating mainline narrow-body aircraft.
Scott Kirby shared “I want our customers to start their vacation the minute they show up at the airport.”
