American Express and Airbnb have launched a partnership integrating over 1m Airbnb listings directly into the American Express Travel Portal and app. The integration allows eligible US cardholders to search, book and earn Membership Rewards points on vacation rentals alongside traditional hotel offerings. The move expands Amex options beyond traditional hotels amid competition in the premium travel market.
Platinum cardholders earn five times Membership Rewards points on prepaid Airbnb bookings through Amex Travel and can apply their $600 (€512) annual lodging credit toward Airbnb Luxe stays. Platinum members unlock a new $250 (€213) statement credit for Airbnb Experiences after booking a qualifying Airbnb Luxe property. Green cardholders earn three times points on travel bookings made directly through third-party sites including Airbnb.
Other rewards cards earn two times points on prepaid Airbnb bookings made via Amex Travel. To begin earning rewards cardholders must link their American Express and Airbnb accounts through the Amex Travel interface. The partnership represents a significant expansion of Amex’s travel offerings.
